Bootcamp is a partnership between Gateway Technical College, workforce development, area employers, and SC Johnson Foundation. It provides accelerated training (15 weeks) for entry level CNC Machinists, Welding/Fabrication Technicians, or Machine Repair Technicians. The program simulates the work environment, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day. Includes case management, industry developed curriculum, national certifications MSSC Safety, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, employer engagement through mock interviews, lab assistance, and job placement. To-date Bootcamp has run 17 CNC Bootcamps, 6 Welding Bootcamps, and 4 Machine Repair Bootcamps. Most recently SC Johnson Foundation provided $1m in funding to support Bootcamps for dislocated workers in southeast Wisconsin.
